WELL-LOVED Italian film classic, Cinema Paradiso, gets a special screening at Strode Theatre next Thursday (February 13).
The film, which won an Oscar in the ‘Best Feature in a Foreign Language’ category, tells the story of Salvatore, now a successful film director.
Returning home for the funeral of Alfredo, his old friend and a projectionist at his childhood cinema, prompts Salvatore to reconnect with the community he left 30 years ago.
The ‘kissing-scene’ montage at the end of the film, as a nod to the local priest who would censor all the kissing scenes in Salvatore’s youth, is one of its best-known features.
Tickets cost £7.50, or £6.50 for concessions from www.strodetheatre.org.uk or the box office on 01458-442846.
