A HOMEGROWN arts organisation which acted as a ‘shop window’ for rising stars has donated thousands of pounds to Bridgwater’s creative community – and disbanded.
Bridgwater and District Theatre Trust, which was formed over 30 years ago to promote amateur theatre in the area, has awarded £3,000 to Bridgwater Town Hall for new backdrop curtains and £1,000 to Bridgwater Arts Centre towards a hi-tech projector.
The trust’s dream, along with Bridgwater Pantomime, Operatic, Carnival and Blake Drama representatives, had been to establish a dedicated theatre for the town.
The trust has decided to dissolve in light of the development of Bridgwater College’s Performing Arts Centre, which is currently in its ‘design phase’.
