A LEADING jazz fusion violinist, Jyotsna Srikanth, will give a fresh-sounding recital in Bridgwater on Friday.
Jyotsna has carved out a reputation as a top instrumentalist giving a contemporary edge to India’s Carnatic classical tradition, which has its roots in ancient Hindu rituals.
Written to be sung, Carnatic music should be sing-song in style when played on instruments.
Based in London for almost a decade, Jyotsna was rated by Time Out magazine as “Britain’s finest violinist of Indian classical music” while The Independent dubbed her “amazing” for her show of skill in the BBC Proms.
Her performance starts at 8pm at Bridgwater Arts Centre and tickets cost £9/£8.
