Comedy season continues with Jo Caulfield at Bridgwater Arts Centre

HIGH calibre comedy continues at Bridgwater Arts Centre with the award-scooping Jo Caulfield hitting town on Friday, October 25.
Graham Norton’s head writer comes to town with ‘Better the Devil You Know’, her razor-sharp new show, inspired by a rude awakening.
“Five years ago I got married in New York,” says Jo. “At a recent gig I was talking to a woman who’d done the same thing.
She said ‘Wasn't it easy? Pay $50, get your licence, three minutes later you’re done. The hardest part is when you get back to Britain and you have to fill in all the paperwork and register it here’.
“I felt my blood go cold – I didn't know we had to do that! Then it hit me like a ton of bricks – I’m not actually married to my husband!”
The realisation got Jo thinking – if you could make all your big life choices again, would you do the same things?
The ‘Best Female Comic in the UK’ nominee has long been a regular on television panel shows including Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You, having carved her path into the laughter business after setting up – and working nightly at – her own comedy club.
And for any romantics, Jo’s tale does end happily.
She said: “We are going to renew our wedding vows ... and this time I'm determined to stick to at least three of them.”
‘Better the Devil You Know’ starts at 8pm and tickets are £12/£10.
