BUDDING young actors will get a practical guide to Shakespeare when a series of drama workshops comes to Somerset at Easter.
Stage craft, stage combat, improvisation and games will be on the agenda for all the children who up for the four-day course starting on April 9.
Ros Johnson, who has run workshop sessions for Shakespeare Schools Festival, started the course after her son text her from school to tell her how boring he found the famous playwright’s work.
“I was furious and hugely disappointed as my children have been bought up on a diet of Shakespeare,” she said. “For a lesson to have had this effect was pretty devastating.
“It made me determined to get to as many students as possible and encourage a love and understanding of the Bard and indeed other texts.”
The course, which costs £90 and will be held at Millfield Theatre in Street, will be intense, focused and loads of fun and is open to children aged between 6 and 14 as well as teenagers.
The team is also looking for work experience people to help run it next month.
