PHILIP Leach, grandson of famous British studio potter Bernard Leach, will talk about carrying on his family’s well documented tradition at a lecture in Bridgwater next month.

Bernard Leach CBE, a British studio potter and art teacher, is regarded as the father of British studio pottery and is one of the foremost artists associated with St Ives in Cornwall.

His son, Michael, also dedicated his life to the art, spending time at the Leach pottery in St Ives before setting up his own studio in Devon.

John Allen, chairman of Bridgwater-based Chandos Society of Artists, which has organised the lecture, said: “We’re honoured to have our lecture given by Philip Leach and look forward to hearing his insights into being part of such a famous family.”

The lecture, at 2.30pm on Saturday, March 9, will be held at Bridgwater Arts Centre and admission costs £3 to include a glass of wine).
