WITH a crash of drums and a flash of light, ACTS Theatre School welcomes you to their junior show, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, starring Bridgwater College student Harry Winchester.

The 60-strong cast of children ranging from the age of seven to 13, together with Harry, playing the lead, are excitedly preparing Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical to be staged at Bridgwater Town Hall next month.

With lyrics by Tim Rice, the original story is taken from the Bible’s Book of Genesis and was the first Lloyd Webber and Rice musical to be performed publicly.

It charts the journey of Joseph, the favourite of 12 brothers who dreams that he is destined to rule over them.

Costumes, including the famous Technicolor Dreamcoat, which sparks such jealousy among Joseph’s siblings, were made by Sue Neale.

Universal themes and catchy music have resulted in over 20,000 productions of the popular musical by schools and amateur theatre groups in the UK.

Tickets for performances on Friday March 15 at 7pm and Saturday, March 16 at 6pm cost £8 for adults and £6 concessions. To book, call 01278-455138.
