THE Somerset Performing Arts Centre for Education (SPACE), based at Heathfield Community School in Taunton, is now recruiting The SPACE Company 2013.

Current company members are welcoming in the New Year with an explosive entertainment feast in SPACE FEST 2013.

The two plays and one dance production, staged at Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre, will warm you up from even the frostiest of winter blues.

Gas Station Angel (January 10-11) tells the story of teenagers Bron and Ace, who meet after a storm pushes Ace’s house into a ‘tantrum’ sea.

This poignant drama by contemporary playwright Ed Thomas has original music, multi-media projections and a magical, flooded water stage.

Angels in America by Tony Kushner (January 14-15), made famous by the TV series starring Al Pacino, Emma Thompson and Meryl Streep, charts the fate of Prior, suffering from AIDS in 1980s New York.

Innovative dance takes over in Gap Year (February 19-20), following a group of intrepid students on a trek around the world in an explosion of colour, culture and creative choreography.

SPACE FEST tickets start from just £4.50 and are available from the Tacchi-Morris Box Office on 01823-414141 and at www.tacchi-morris.com
The SPACE is accepting applications for the new intake of students in September. Past graduates have progressed to prestigious higher education venues, such as Italia Conti and Mountview Academy, and employment in the performing arts.

If you are aged 16 to 19 and want to find out more about studying the BTEC Extended Diploma in Performing Arts at The SPACE, go to the open evening on January 17, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

Applications should be made by January 21 – for more information go to www.spacesomerset.com
