CHILDREN from Hamp Junior School have helped to create a colourful mosaic telling the history of Bridgwater.

The Year Four and Five pupils worked with Somerset Bridge Primary School to make a ‘mosaic human sundial’ to be installed in the play area at Bloor Homes’ Wilstock Village.

They helped David Bowers of Mosaic Madness to design and construct the fully functioning sundial.

Luke Talmage, deputy head at Hamp Junior School, said: “The children designed the mosaic, which shows various parts of Bridgwater’s history.

“It took about a week of hard work each morning but they had a lovely time and it was a great way of enhancing the curriculum here.”

Several children who worked on the project live at Wilstock village and will be able to make good use of the sundial.

Michele Roses of Bloor Homes South West said: “Play helps children to understand the people and places in their lives, learn about their environment and develop their sense of community.”
