Rock duo Royal Blood are benefiting from the Brits effect as they saw sales of their album go through the roof after they were named best British group at the awards show.

The pair, who picked up their award from legendary Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, are on course to crash into the top five in the albums chart, having been at number 18 last week.

Madonna’s tumble did not hurt her sales figures with her greatest hits album, Celebration, seeing sales rise by 62 per cent.

BPI and Brit Awards chief executive Geoff Taylor said: “The Brits always have a galvanising effect on artist sales, and with nine stand-out performances generating huge social engagement, we’re seeing a significant lift in demand for a lot of the music that was featured in the show.

“With the remainder of the week still to come, this is shaping up to be one of the most impactful Brits of recent years.”
