This was the night that X Factor viewers expected Stevi Ritchie to make his long-anticipated departure from X Factor.
Ritchie survived on Saturday despite being criticised by judges for his quirky Egyptian-themed version of Sir Elton John’s I’m Still Standing.
His act prompted judge Simon Cowell to say: “You are going to be remembered for that performance, it’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen on any of these shows.” And Mel B said: “There’s problems in the house.”
There was speculation on Twitter that it must be time for him to go.
However some were more supportive.
But when he sang This Is The Moment, from the musical Jekyll and Hyde, he wowed the judges – and some of the viewers.
In the end though, it wasn’t enough and he lost the sing-off with Andrea Faustini.
But there’s no doubt he’ll be missed.
