Madonna is just the latest star to find out the hard way that, sometimes in life, it all falls down.

The list of famous fallers is distinguished and long, including the likes of queens of pop Beyonce and Lady Gaga, top model Naomi Campbell and singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran.

Actress Jennifer Lawrence did her best to make falling over at the Oscars a yearly ritual.

First she suffered a highly embarrassing trip on the way to accepting the Best Actress award in 2013, followed by a second tumble on the red carpet the following year.

Ed Sheeran suffered a painful-looking stumble while jumping around on stage.

Ever the professional, the apparently uninjured Ed just picked himself up and got on with the show.

Beyonce’s momentary fall from grace came when she plunged down steps during a concert in Lisbon.

And Lady Gaga was snapped at London Heathrow Airport falling over in a pair of insanely high platform shoes.

Platform heels were also responsible for one of the most famous falls on the catwalk ever, when Naomi Campbell stumbled during Vivienne Westwood’s Paris Fashion Week show in 1993.

Olly Murs is a serial offender. He skidded over while running across stage in Cardiff in 2013, as well as falling down a flight of stairs at Guilfest in 2012. He even split open the front of his trousers while performing in Sheffield.

And Sir Elton John went viral in December last year when he sat down on his folding chair at a charity tennis event and fell over backwards.
