Demi Lovato showed her support for transgender rights when she took to the stage at the Billboard Music Awards to perform her hit Cool For The Summer.

She took a stand against North Carolina’s “bathroom law” that states that people must use the bathroom of the gender they were born with, rather than the gender they identify as.

The singer’s black T-shirt featured an inclusive bathroom symbol and replicas of the shirt will reportedly be sold during her tour, with the proceeds going to LGBT organisations in North Carolina.

During her performance at the Las Vegas awards show, Demi replaced the single’s synths with punchy, soulful horns.

Demi is currently on her Future Now tour with Nick Jonas and will next perform in Atlanta, Georgia on June 29.
