It was the bawdy twenty-something sitcom that launched the careers of Sheridan Smith, Will Mellor and Ralf Little.

And now, with TV revamps having something of a moment (Cold Feet! The X Files!) we wondered if Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps could be making a comeback as well?

And when we asked its former star Ralf about whether he’d like to see the show return, he said it would be “fun”! Yes!

“Until you’ve just asked that I’ve not even considered it,” laughed the 36-year-old Royle Family actor.

“It’s trying to get the schedules together to be honest. Kathryn (Drysdale)’s career is doing great, she’s busy doing films, Will’s gone from strength to strength in dramas, Natalie (Casey) is a big musical star now and of course Sheridan’s just basically sitting at home counting her Baftas. So we’re all busy.

“But it’d be fun wouldn’t it? Let’s all admit to each other that it would be a lot of fun!”

Prodded a bit more by PA, who asked if we could start the ‘Bring Back Two Pints’ movement right here, right now, Ralf said: “OK, well sign me up! Well if everyone else… Hey, I’m never one to spoil a party so let’s have a go!”

Score.

Until that happens, though, Ralf’s been busy working as a producer for a brand new comedy that he’s bringing to Channel 5.

“It’s all improvised,” he revealed to us. “It’s a spoof mockumentary based loosely on the show UK Border Force and shows of that type.

“And it’s about a group of border agents and the minutiae of their job and how they try and do it as best they can whilst getting it wrong. I wish I could tell you if the scripts were any good but there aren’t any. It’s going to be interesting!”
