Looking at summer holidays in England, is it really possible to get from them what you'd get from holidays abroad?
Here- With exquisite golden sands sweeping across the south coast, they're soft and clean enough to compete with even the best of Spain. Sun trapped coves invite families to swap the lilo for the bucket and spade and relax in the family friendly surroundings.
Vs
Away-With exceptional crisp, white sands mixed with clear blue seas, the likes of Turkey, Spain and Egypt holidays offer relaxing days in stunning surroundings.
Here-Great Britain is notorious for its unreliable weather which unfortunately puts many tourists off holidaying here. Heat waves have been known pass through in previous years whereas other years never see much sun, it's never a guarantee as to what you'll get.
Vs
Away-The majority of holiday destinations across Europe offer fantastic summer weather conditions from 20°C to 40°C. You can practically guarantee returning home with a deep, golden suntan and a warm, rejuvenated feel.
Here-Our surrounding, picturesque areas are so stunning, they don't receive the appreciation they deserve. Like a water painting constantly evolving, the footpaths and fields which cover every corner change every season allowing you to get down and dirty with nature at its best.
Vs
Away-Having very dry land due to the extreme temperatures, the sun can soak up much of the natural beauty, leaving desert land and dusty pathways with little vegetation. On the other hand, its desert land can be truly magnificent, especially if you stumble through the beaten track to discover small, uncommercialised towns or head up hill to find some occasional local wildlife.
Here-With traditional public houses dotted on almost every corner, you're never far from feeling right at home. With home comforts like drinkable tap water, soft, bouncy beds with duvet covers included and good old Sunday roasts on offer, you'll be guaranteed a good nights sleep.
Vs
Away-Sample the local tapas bars where you'll have the chance to taste the local drinks, whether it be a shot of ouzo or a bottle of San Miguel. Relax and enjoy your experience in another culture. Indulge on local cuisine and sample dishes you usually wouldn't try, like a pan of paella or a calamari special.
When looking at the two, each have there pro's and con's. Britain's biggest drawback is its unfortunate weather, and without that barrier, I'm sure that many of us would consider holidaying in England rather than going abroad. With the current climate circumstances as they are as well as increasing the carbon footprint by flying abroad, we are throwing our money at other countries rather than holidaying here and putting it back into our country. Whether it's a summer trip to Somerset or a cottage break in Cornwall, a voyage to Spain or Egypt holidays, your holiday is what you make it and your kids will enjoy it, no matter where you are.
