A Greek Chic Party.

Mykonos is gaining momentum as a globally recognised iconic Greek Isle. Among the postcard picturesque whitewash buildings and blue roofed churches is a chic and vibrant culture that has led to it being dubbed the Greek St Tropez. With so much competition from the saturated European market, Mykonos is gaining momentum as a party island and is popular with the gay community. Internationally recognised DJ's are attracted by the islands monthly full moon parties ensuring Mykonos holds its place against Ibiza, Malia and Kardemena.

The atmosphere feels cool and chic and the vibe is almost exclusive. Dominated primarily by bars as opposed to clubs, many of the establishments are sea facing offering fantastic sunset views and amazing wind down sunrise parties. With an upmarket atmosphere, Caprice Bar looks out over the calm waters and the famous Mykonos windmills. Tropicana Beach Bar offers party lovers an alternative to the usual power nap and evening meal start to a night and many begin their partying here around 4pm. T-shirts and flyers use the slogan "Follow me to Paradise Island" to advertise one of the islands nightlife hotspots.

Mykonos holidays offer a lot more than a sophisticated party holiday. The popular indie band Fleet Foxes were inspired by the islands deep Ancient history and wrote a song called Mykonos. This song is a suitable soundtrack to accompany the walk through the narrow streets lined with cubic white houses. You don't get much more authentic than Mykonos town. It is the islands capital and home to the main port. Lining the waterfront are high end jewellery shops and delicious cafes. The famous windmills that have graced the front of thousands of postcards also reside here and can be seen from many of the restaurants and bars.

The importance of Mykonos in Greek Mythology is strangely complimented by its unique physical traits. Said to be the location of the battle between Zeus and the Titans the island was named in honour of Apollo's grandson Mykons. The small island of Delos in Mykonos is home to the birth place of Apollo the Greek God of music and of truth and light and his twin sister Artemis, the Greek Goddess of hunting. The island has a history of over 3000 years and is home to the temple of Apollon. The Greeks believe it to be one of the most important sacred areas of the ancient world. You can tour the island as part of an excursion as well as visiting Chora's museums detailing the areas extensive history.

Aside from some of Greece's greatest parties visitors can get a chunk of culture and visit areas key to ancient Greek Mythology. Mykonos holidays explore the unheard territory of hard core parties going hand in hand with culture and history. It is like a perfect ending to a good book. The birth place of the Greek God of music has become a much loved party resort.
