Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts has released her highly anticipated first album 'Cinderell's Eyes'.

It is two years since Girls Aloud announced they would take a break to pursue solo projects and whle Roberts has a successful make-up range called Dainty Doll, targeted at people with pale skin tones, it was her solo singing career which was bound to attract most attention.

She rose to fame in 2002 after auditioning for the ITV reality television programme Popstars: The Rivals, winning a place in Girls Aloud and they became one of the few reality acts to go on to achieve continued success. With the girl band, Roberts achieved a string of 20 consecutive UK top ten singles (including four number ones), two UK number one albums, and received nominations for five BRIT Awards, winning Best Single in 2009 for 'The Promise'.

Almost two years ago she began working on her solo material, culminating in the release of first single 'Beat of my drum' in May and the anmouncement of the album, released through A and M Records. The single peaked at 27 and was a sing and dance effort she described as a 'fun record'.

The album sees a collection of 12 classic pop melodies, underground sounds, singing, rapping and astonishing honesty in the lyrics - beware!

'Yo Yo' marries pop lyrics to a post Ronettes vibe and pulsing electro sound, while 'Porcelain Heart' is out and out pop which could make a single.

'Sticks and Stones' is a frank look at life in a pop band while 'Take a bite' is a rebound song for anyone who has had to take insults for years and now its time to hit back!

"I had to feel like I would say and mean every single one of these lyrics," she told the Gazette. "I would say 'I'd never say that in a million years, why would I put it down just because it rhymes?' It's as simple as this: I've been given an opportunity to make the album I want to make , so I've absolutely put every last bit of heart and soul into it."

The album is preceded by second single 'Lucky Day, a pop belter with its feet firmly on the dance floor.
