LINk up in Somerset

THE Somerset LINk (Local Involvement Network) is encouraging residents to help shape vital health and social care services by signing up with the LINk during Volunteers’ Week, which runs June 1 to 7.

More than 250 people across the county have already joined the LINk and residents can get involved as much, or as little, as they wish. The LINk is an opportunity for local people to influence health and social care services and anyone can get involved.

Just registering with the LINk means residents will receive updates about which healthcare issues are being investigated by the LINk and what the results are.

Volunteers can get more involved by helping to gather local views on health and social care, or they can help the LINk to investigate the issues raised.

The LINk wants to know what people across the county think about health and social care to help make the changes local people want to see. That could include GP services, hospitals, dentists, mental health services, sexual health, day care or residential homes.

Amy Morse, LINk Development Officer for Somerset, said: “Joining the LINk is a great way to support the development of vital local services and help make the changes that residents want to see. Volunteers’ Week is the perfect opportunity to join the LINk and start to make a difference.”

Volunteers' Week is an annual national celebration of volunteers and volunteering. It is an opportunity to celebrate volunteers and inspire others to get involved too.
