COLLECTING Beatles memorabilia can be difficult as their name carries with it a certain cache and adds 10 per cent or 20 per cent to the price.

Some Beatles items are always going to cost a lot as this is due to condition and rarity or in the case of the Beatles White Album it is what number you have embossed on the front, if it is mono or stereo or side loader or top loader.

It can all get frustrating as you think am I paying too much for an LP or a single.

You can buy Beatles records off eBay and I have bought a White Album (mono) and a stereo and mono version of Revolver.

The mono version has an original sticker on the back saying it came from a Boots store in Nottingham.

The stereo version of Revolver I bought has a different mix of Tomorrow Never Knows.

Away from the internet your best bet is to keep your eyes open.

I have found a number of items at antique fairs and car boots.

One of the things you can do is develop packages.

By this I mean a group of individual items which can be grouped as a package so when you sell the package it is worth more in price and more too a collector.

An example would be an Abbey Road song book of all the sheet music from 1969; the original British LP; original American LP and Abbey Road Deluxe Edition Limited LP box set.  You are offering all original items and in this case all have an Abbey Road/Beatles connection. This package could be worth up to £300.

Here are some original Beatles memorabilia I have bought:

- Sheet music. I bought a bundle which included In my Life, This Boy, Michelle, I’ll be back and I’ll Follow the Sun.

Bridgwater Mercury:

- A set of Beatles cartoon figures (replicas of the 1960s American cartoon) plus the crocodile.

- A Beatles mug

- Beatles music books for piano and guitar (these are new)

- A Beatles scrap book

- Abbey Road Deluxe Edition. Limited LP box set vinyl, poster and T shirt. This was issued to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the album.

This 40th anniversary was released on Saturday, November 9.

It was limited to 5,000 copies. Looking on eBay this will cost you up to £210.00.

I bought my copyfor £75. It is still in shrink wrap and perfect.

- Beatles souvenir brochures and booklets

- Four very large White Album pictures which are about three times the size of the pictures given away with the album.

Bridgwater Mercury:

One of the most intriguing items I have bought and this came off eBay was Rutherford Chang’s White Album.

Bridgwater Mercury: For this the American artist took 100 Beatles White Albums and played each side at the same time.

So each song is recorded from 100 albums playing at the same time.

The cover and back of the vinyl LP are a mashing together of the 100 original White Album Covers from the White Albums he bought from people, no matter what the state of the LP or cover.

He had a shop called We Buy White Albums.

Inside the LP is a poster of the 100 LP covers he selected.

If you want a Rutherford Chang White Album (released in 2013 and he sold at his exhibitions) there are only 800 in the world.

I have one and the other 799 are out there with some popping up on eBay.

The two I looked at the other day to give you an idea what they cost today were both on sale in America.

The prices were $222.22 plus postage $15.66 which was the equivalent of £172.29 plus P&P or the other copy was $150.00 plus postage $24.83 which equalled £126.62 plus P&P, but this did not included import tax on either LP which would lift the price up again.

Bridgwater Mercury:

I bought my copy on eBay from someone in Liverpool in 2015 and it cost me £80 and this included postage and packaging.

It is still in its shrink wrap cover.

It lives in a cardboard casing which it was delivered in the post and placed in a larger box

At this moment in time I think I have made money on what I paid and if I sold it tomorrow I would turn a healthy profit.

This is definitely a real piece of Lozza’s Loot.
