Singing for the Brain™ is a programme developed by music specialists to help people with memory problems and has been specifically created for people with dementia and their carers to help to sustain mental and psychological well-being. The stimulation and challenge from singing and gentle physical activity makes this more than a sing-along, with results that are both moving and uplifting. Participants do not have to be able to read music to take part, as trained musicians will guide guests through each workshop. The workshops are designed to be of benefit to people who have been diagnosed with dementia or people with memory problems. Singing for the Brain™ provides an opportunity to build friendships, gain support and share experiences with people who understand the issues surrounding living with memory problems and dementia. It’s also great fun and uplifting for everyone who takes part. The Singing for the Brain™ group in Axminster meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.
