Morgs' current squad see off the veterans
Morganians Present 25, Morganians Past 5
MORGS finished a tough season with a run-out against their veterans, bolstered by a few Blake Bears' players. The Present side started strongly, with captain Paul Goddard crossing the line at the back of a catch-and-drive. Sam Chillingworth missed the conversion.
Then they seemed to take their foot off the gas and apart from a couple of runs by Nathan Shandy and Dimbo Kingston, failed to use their quicker backs. This made it more of a forwards' battle and suited the vets, who had Darren Kitch putting the tackles in and slowing the ball down. However, Morgs Present scored three more tries in the first half, through Jason Richards (2) and Roy Grimstead. The second by Richards followed a rampaging run in the final minute of the half.
The Past side made a few changes at the interval and scored the first points of the second half when Mark Quinn charged over three players to touch down. The Present team finished with the try of the game when a kick over the top from Goddard saw winger Billy Marshall show dribbling skills to score.
Morgs would like to thank everyone who attended and hope to see them a bit more regularly next season.
