WASPS played Knaves at Glastonbury in their final netball match of the season. They made a great start, wth centre Chris Tait and Jill Walters (WA) moving the ball swiftly and providing well-timed passes into the circle.
Excellent shooting by Kate Bryant (GA) and Leza Hastie (GS) helped Wasps to a 13-8 lead at quarter time.
Knaves made changes to strengthen their attack, and although Wasps' defence fought hard, Knaves' shooter was on form, allowing them to edge ahead 22-21.
Both teams made half-time substitutions. Annette Windsor came on as WA for Wasps, taking the ball well and feeding into the circle.
Lea Alford took over as GS and made some excellent shots. Knaves went 36-30 ahead.
The last quarter was fiercely competitive. Sam Williams (GD) and Denise Staples (GK) fought for every ball and a great team effort won the quarter for Wasps, but Knaves took the match 49-45.
Players of the match: Sam Williams (GD) and Kate Bryant (GA). Wasps would like to thank umpires Margie Tottle and Jean Marchant for their support this season.
