Bower must avoid defeat in final game to take title

BOWER United are on the brink of winning the Division Two title in their first season of Uxella Bridgwater & District Sunday League football.

Having faltered with two successive defeats, they won 6-0 away to Abbey Moor on Wednesday night to draw level on points at the top with Bridgwater Wanderers, who have finished their fixtures.

With a goal-difference advantage of just one over their rivals, Bower must avoid defeat in their final match on Sunday, away to Woolavington Reserves, to be champions.

Woolavington first team retained the Division One championship with victories over Quantock Pride (4-0, Sunday) and Cross Rifles (5-0, Wednesday).

They finished six points clear of treble cup-winners Tiger Old Boys, who completed their season with a 1-0 victory over Flag Old Boys on Wednesday.

Latest results: Sunday, May 4. Div One - Woolavington 4, Quantock Pride 0; Flag OB 2, Tiger OB 5. Div Two - Abbey Moor 2, Grasshoppers '05 3; Bower Utd 2, Admirals 3; Sportsman 3, Woolavington Res 3.

Wednesday. Div One - Cross Rifles 0, Woolavington 5; Tiger OB 1, Flag OB 0. Div Two - Abbey Moor 0, Bower Utd 6; Woolavington Res 2, L&G 2.
