REGULAR Carnival-goers will know that the long line of illuminated carts is just part of the excitement of the day this Friday (November 9).
A full programme of events helps build the momentum of the day before Carnival itself gets underway after dark.
Throughout the day, the Quay West Roadshow will be set up on Cornhill, with live acts, competitions, music and madness.
At 2pm, live music will sound out as ACTS Samba Band perform for 45 minutes on High Street, then at 2.45pm Tone Valley Jazz Band make their first appearance of the day outside the town hall.
From 3.30pm, Street Heat Samba Band and Nostaglia Samba Band create the musical entertainment on High Street, then Tone Valley Jazz Band perform once more from 5pm back outside the town hall.
There will be an exhibition in St Mary's Church all day, and between 2pm and 7pm, catch entertainers Aldo and Merlin in the town centre.
From 10am onwards, Bridgwater Town Hall will be offering food and refreshments, a big screen showing videos of past Carnivals as well as an information desk.
The Carnival parade itself starts at 7pm and then immediately after the procession ends, the traditional squibbing display will light up the town's high street in a stunning display of hand-held fireworks, finishing the long-awaited night.
