THE spirit of Bridgwater Carnival is embodied by every single entry that takes part, from the giant 100ft carts costing tens of thousands of pounds, down to the smallest walking entry assembled in dad's garage.
But behind the bright lights which wow the crowds each year, a fierce rivalry burns as the clubs battle it out for a raft of prizes.
Last year, it was Gremlins CC who bagged top spot with their amazing Ghost Ship (Deliver Us) cart, which not only triumphed in Bridgwater, but completed a clean sweep of Somerset Carnivals to bring the County Cup home to Bridgwater.
The 2006 win continues an incredible run of success in Bridgwater, which has seen Gremlins triumph in 13 of the past 16 Bridgwater events.
But can the club emerge victorious again? Will living up to expectations after Ghost Ship prove too tricky? Which of the other clubs could steal their crown?
You can share your views on this subject in our online forum, as well as find out the results as soon as they are announced on Friday night - all via this website.
Remember, you can also find a full lowdown, with pictures and reports on each of Bridgwater's entries in next week's souvenir Mercury.
