REGULAR Bridgwater Carnival-goers know, that even when the last of the carts has completed the procession - it's still not the end of the night.

Far from it, this year's stunning squibbing display will be as bright and impressive as ever, lighting up Bridgwater High Street with more than 100 traditional squibs.

Squibs - traditional handheld fireworks - will be held up by people known as squibbers, while lines of blazing sparks create a wall of flames in front of them, adding to the visual spectacle.

Although they used to extinguish with a bang, health and safety concerns put limitations on the final explosion and it has become difficult to buy the original version.

Whether the squibs are original or modernised, one thing is for sure - Carnival night is sure to go out with a bang.
