A SERIES of road closures will be put in place today to make sure the procession and daytime entertainment run as smoothly as possible.

The northbound side of Parkway will be closed at 8am but a contraflow system on the southbound carriage will be in place.

Wyndham Road and Frederick Road, from its junction with Wyndham Road to Parkway, will also be closed at 8am,for the assembly of the procession.

The following closures will also be in place: from 12noon, High Street, Clare Street, Lamb Lane and Cornhill; from 4pm, Broadway (northbound) from Salmon Parade to Monmouth Street, Monmouth Street, Blake Place and Frederick Road; from 6pm, Bath Road (Monmouth Street to Bower Lane), Westonzoyland Road (Eastern Avenue to St John Street), Parkway (Southbound), Monmouth Street (Southbound), Eastover (Church Street to Monmouth Street), Penel Orlieu, North Street, Taunton Road (Huntworth Roundabout to St Mary's Street), Broadway (Taunton Road to Penel Orlieu – Westbound), Broadway (Taunton Road to Salmon Parade), Dampiet Street (George Street to St Mary's Street), St Mary's Street, Old Taunton Road, Mount Street (Market Street to Penel Orlieu), St John Street (Broadway to Westonzoyland Road), The Clink (Bristol Road to The Leggar), Bristol Road (Union Street to the Cross Rifles roundabout), Salmon Parade (Hospital Car Park to Broadway), Salmon Parade (Lime Kiln Inn to Broadway), West Street, Huntworth Lay-By.

Roads are expected to reopen progressively as the end of the procession makes its way around the town, depending on the prevailing conditions and in consultation with the police.
