BRIDGWATER Carnival Committee has released the following information concerning access around the Bath Road/Bower Lane area tomorrow.

"As a result of recent meetings, the following will apply in respect of the road works on Bower Lane between Bath Road and Whitfield Road.

For clubs – Carnival carts, generators and limited vehicles will be allowed access through the road works to Whitfield Road, Eastern Avenue and onto the lining up area on Parkway.

The junctions at Bath Road and Whitfield Road will be manned to allow this access. Other support vehicles including members must use Parkway to access the lining up area.

After the last cart has progressed through the road works, Bower Lane will be closed to ALL traffic.

For residents – Historically, Bath Road has been closed at the junction with Bower Lane and access to and egress from Bower Manor, Bridge and Sydenham estates from 18:00 hours has been through Bower Lane, Whitfield Road and Eastern Avenue.

This year because Bower Lane will be closed, Bath Road will remain open for residents of these three estates via Parkway.

Traffic traversing the junction of Bath Road/Parkway will do so under controlled conditions and at a much reduced speed.

In view of the extra work needed to install and make the Bath Road/Parkway junction safe, Bath Road will be closed at 17:00 hours in both directions from Parkway to Cross Rifles.

To access these estates from Bridgwater, please use either Westonzoyland Road or Bristol Road/Kingsdown.

Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival wishes to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused by events outside of our control.

If you need any further information or help on carnival day itself, contact our control centre on 07827 254230 from 10am onwards."
