IF you’d like to leave your car at home, but it’s too far to walk, then The Bridgwater Way partnership wants to help you by pledging to make this year’s event “the most-cycle friendly ever”.

Two secure, patrolled and fenced areas will be set up, providing safe spaces for up to 80 bikes.

They are to the rear of the temporary post office in Mount Street, and on Eastover Green, next to Cranleigh Gardens between the play area and the medical centre.

A spokesman for the partnership, which includes Somerset County Council, Sustrans and Sedgemoor District Council, said: “The Bridgwater Way project is putting on the facilities to encourage more people to leave their car at home.

“Cycling will beat the congestion and parking challenges that come with Bridgwater’s biggest night of the year, and the two bike storage areas are close to great viewing spots.”

If the car is a must, here’s the information on where to park on Saturday.
