FANS of Alan Partridge, one of Britain’s most iconic comedy characters, may well find themselves doing a double take on Bridgwater Carnival night this Saturday.
That’s because Access FM, a community radio station based at Bridgwater YMCA, will be broadcasting live from the procession on board a very special mobile studio – the Radio Norwich van which featured in this year’s hit film, Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.
The van features in one of the film’s most memorable sections, with Alan, played by Steve Coogan, and fellow DJ Pat Farrell, played by Colm Meaney, on board, being pursued by police cars.
Grant Francis, chief executive of Special Media Projects, which owns the mobile studio, said: “It’s a great resource to be able to offer radio stations, and we’re really excited about being able to provide a mobile platform for Access FM to bring something completely new to their town.”
