Patriotic songs to mark the occasion

ST George's Day was celebrated in style on Wednesday April 23 when over 40 diners enjoyed a meal and entertainment at Laburnum House Hotel, West Huntspill, organised by Wells Conservative Association Highbridge branch.

An excellent meal with carvery selection, sweet and coffee was followed by a wonderful performance by Somerset singer, Tim Pitman. He proved his versatility by starting with popular songs from the last two decades, followed by more serious light opera and ecclesiastical music, ending with rousing patriotic songs to suit the occasion.

The audience was encouraged to join in with Jerusalem, Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory, before everybody rose to bring the enjoyable evening to an end with the national anthem.
