THE Bridgwater Winemaker's Circle's April meeting commenced with new secretary, Anne Only Learning' Milne, reading her first minutes to the assembled company. In the absence of the treasurer it was Alex Black who collected the subs for 2008 from the very strong membership.
THERE are a number of people in Bridgwater and the surrounding area who are unable to get to the library for themselves due to disability, an illness, or because of providing care for someone. The Home Library Service is available free of charge for all ages for those in Somerset who cannot easily access a library. Volunteers provide a regular delivery of books and talking books directly to the individual's home.
RENEGADES Carnival Club's grand prize draw took place on Friday April 25 with winner of the TLH Holiday vouchers being Lee Flak. Other winners were Gordon Tizzard (suitcases), Laura Riddle (pamper hamper), G. Jenkins and Rod.
MEMBERS were delighted to say Happy Birthday Chris - 93 years young as everyone joined in the celebrations of Chris Banwell's 93rd birthday with a delicious tea and entertainment.
A jumble sale with fun fashion show and auction, in association with the Spaxton PTFA, Church and Village Hall Committees, is being held on Saturday May 10 at 2pm in the village hall.
THE BRIDGWATER Philatelic Society will be holding their annual general meeting at 7.15pm on Thursday May 8 at the Westfield United Reformed Church Hall, West Street, Bridgwater.
BRIDGWATER Flower Club welcomed Coral Gardener to the April meeting with her title being Shades of the Season. As Coral was practising for her area test she have an excellent preview of the designs she plans to do in May to, hopefully, make her fully qualified.
THE fortnightly meeting on Friday April 25 held in the parish centre was the charity night, raising funds for Alzheimer charity. Mrs Tricia Brown welcomed all the visitors to the meeting and introduced guest speakers, Julie Patterson and Sue Horseman from the society.
